Calibration Questions

What type of calibration will I get with my test equipment?

Every piece of pre-owned or refurbished test equipment sold or rented from Avalon Test Equipment includes an ISO 9001 NIST traceable calibration. We can provide an ISO 17025 calibration with data at an additional charge.

What if I need calibration during the term of my rental?

If an instrument requires calibration during a designated rental period, Avalon will recalibrate the unit for free. Request an RMA from sales@avalontest.com.

What calibration standards do you follow?

We are accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and ANSI/NCSL Z540.1 standards. Our calibration procedures follow manufacturer specifications, military standards, or internationally recognized industry standards (ASTM, NIST, OMIL, etc.).

Rental Questions

What do I need to do if I want to keep the rental longer than the original term I agreed to?

Nothing, unless your purchasing department requires a new or revised PO before funds can be dispersed. You will be invoiced until the test equipment is returned to an Avalon facility, whether or not the customer's purchase order covers the entire rental period.

Where do I return the rental test equipment?

Return the rental equipment to an Avalon facility nearest you (San Diego or Dallas). No paperwork is required.

Do I have to pay sales tax on the rental?

In some states, this is required. For example, Avalon Test Equipment collects sales tax in accordance with the laws of Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Washington.

What happens if my rental equipment fails during the rental period?

We will immediately replace the equipment with an equivalent unit at no additional charge. Contact our support team for assistance.

Purchase Questions

What accessories will I receive when I purchase refurbished test equipment from Avalon Test Equipment?

All equipment comes with standard accessories, including the operating manual, unless otherwise specified.

How much can I save by purchasing refurbished test equipment?

In purchasing refurbished or pre-owned test equipment, our customers typically save 20–75% off the original list price.

What warranty do you offer on purchased equipment?

All test equipment comes with a 90-day warranty and 10-day acceptance period unless otherwise specified. Our warranty covers the equipment being in good working order upon shipment.

What if the equipment I need is not in stock?

Avalon Test Equipment is an international company with many global and domestic sources for test equipment. We are in contact with hundreds of companies and brokers daily in our search for quality products. We also utilize various surplus lists from major defense and aerospace companies, which allows us to access their inventories as necessary. Let us know your requirements, and we will do our best to procure the equipment as fast as possible.

What are my payment options?

Pre-pay via Paypal, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or wire transfer. Net-30 terms may be granted upon credit acceptance. For customers outside the United States, we require wire transfer in advance unless otherwise negotiated.

Do you offer financing programs?

We have agreements with third-party leasing companies to provide lease financing to creditworthy customers. Your account executive can provide the names of our leasing partners, or you can use your preferred financial institution.

Is there a restocking fee for returns?

Yes, there is a 15% restocking fee for equipment returned within 30 days from the shipment date. All sales are final after 30 days.

Shipping & Returns

What are your shipping options?

All units are shipped FOB from our locations in Carlsbad, CA, Dallas, TX, or Atlanta, GA, depending on stock availability. We offer various shipping methods including ground, expedited, and international shipping options.

Do I need an RMA to return test equipment?

No, an RMA is needed if you are sending in test equipment for service. For returns of purchased equipment, please contact our sales team for authorization.

How should I package equipment for return?

Equipment should be properly packaged in its original packaging if possible, or in suitable protective packaging to prevent damage during transit. Please include all accessories and documentation that were originally provided.
