DO-160 was published by the Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics (RTCA) to provide standard procedures and environmental test criteria for testing airborne equipment for the complete spectrum of aircraft (light general aviation aircraft, helicopters, "jumbo jets", SST categories of aircraft, etc.). This standard was developed to simulate environmental conditions in a controlled laboratory environment to establish the performance stability of aircraft electronics. DO-160 standard requirements ensure aircraft can fly through blizzards and withstand lightning strikes while still retaining full functionality of the installed navigation and communications equipment. Aircraft tested to meet these requirements will usually also meet requirements set by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other regulatory bodies for commercial aircraft. Twenty-six different sections make up the DO-160 standard with different requirements to meet each specific section.
Avalon Test Equipment carries a variety of LISNs to meet test requirements as defined in DO-160. Rent or purchase from Avalon and Test With Confidence®.
