Electrostatic discharge (ESD) guns or simulators are handheld devices that test another product’s resistance to electrostatic discharge. The ESD gun simulates a discharge which will often create a visible spark.
ESD occurs when there is contact between two electrically charged objects and can cause serious damage. ESD testing is used to guarantee that a product’s electromagnetic compatibility. An ESD gun outputs voltages up to 16kV or 30kV, depending on the required testing.
