There have been test standards put into place by government agencies and globally recognized organizations for health and safety purposes. At Avalon Testing Equipment, our EMC and EMI compliance testing labs uphold these standards. The main categories consist of automotive, MIL-STD, CE Marking, and IEC standards.

Automotive testing has become more complex as the automotive industry moves forward with “smart” and autonomous vehicles. It is more important than ever to test automobiles for electrical, radiated, and magnetic interference. The goal is to test the components in order to eliminate EMI (electromagnetic interference) in automotive vehicles.

Military standard (MIL-STD) is used to ensure products meet certain requirements for the U.S. Department of Defense. The five types of defense standards include the manufacturing process, interface, design criteria, test method, and standard practices. Abiding by these standards allows for uniform engineering and technical demands unique to military requirements.

CE marking is used to indicate that a product meets the European Union's (EU) standards for health, safety, and environmental protection. The CE mark is a requirement for the distribution of a variety of products in the EU. Avalon's EMC/EMI compliance testing will help you meet the safety requirements to receive CE marking, which is not a standard, but rather a legal requirement of the EU.

The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is the leading organization for preparing and publishing international standards for "electrotechnology" (electrical, electronic, and related technologies). Our EMC and EMI compliance testing labs use these standards to ensure the precise safety and performance of all of the electrical equipment that we test.
