The 83712A Synthesized CW Generator is ideal for local oscillator and exciter applications. High output power and exceptional signal purity are combined with broad frequency coverage in this performance-packed synthesizer. Fundamental oscillators and switched low-pass filters deliver <-55 dBc harmonics, eliminate subhermonics, and suppress spurious to <-60 dBc. This generator is the recommended local oscillator for use with the 8970B noise meter. All front panel functions are completely HP-IB programmable and SCPI compatible.

Features:

  • High stability time base for frequency accuracy
  • Low SSB phase noise for out-of-channel tests
  • High power output for driving the LO port of mixers
  • Low output power with option 1E1 for receiver sensitivity and SINAD measurements
  • 83712A - 10 MHz to 20 GHz
  • 1 kHz frequency resolution
  • Level accuracy of +/-1.0 db with 0.01 dB of resolution
  • <-50 dBc harmonic distortion
  • Greater than 100 dB of dynamic range
  • Phase noise as low as -103 dBc
